I wanted to take the time to write a short statement regarding the ongoing Coronavirus situation and its effects on the wedding and events industry.
There is currently a lot of uncertainty and anxiety amongst wedding couples, corporate event bookers, venues and also amongst the small businesses who service this sector.
I'd like to take this opportunity to reassure my clients that it is business as usual until such a point where the government intervenes.
I understand my clients anxiety at this time and thought it might be useful to share my business continuity plan.
In its simplest terms, the contract we have in place still stands. In the past days, a few clients have contacted me and asked me to clarify a few points, so I thought I would share them with you here:
What happens if the wedding/event has to be re-scheduled or cancelled?
In this instance it is my priority to work with the client, honour our commitment and look at alternative dates to reschedule the booking.
In the unlikely event that I can not make the rescheduled date, I am lucky enough to work within an industry filled with talented professionals and will work to provide an alternative performer where required. Each client in this situation will be dealt with on an individual basis and will receive my full attention.
What happens if I fall ill or I’m self isolating?
In over 20 years of performing I am yet to cancel a gig due to my own ill health. However, we are in unprecedented times and predicting what will happen simply isn't possible (despite my job title). I will be taking all the official advice, maintaining high levels of hygiene and practising social distancing. As a self employed business owner I have an advantage as I already practise a high level of social distancing. I will be keeping all social activities down to a minimum, avoiding large networking events and wedding shows. Whilst the official advice at the time of writing is to "carry on", I took my own decision to remove myself from the large National Wedding show at EventCity in Manchester and limit my exposure to large groups of people.
In the instance that I can not make an event due to my own ill health, the client will be contacted at the earliest opportunity and we will discuss all options open to us, including me organising an alternative performer to take my place.
As always if you have any questions you can reach me at info@stephenseabourne.com
I can't wait to be at all of your events!
Look after each other and stay safe.
Regards,
